Naperville Architect - Lee Architects and Builders

Bob Lee has been a licensed architect for 38 years, practicing in California, Colorado, and Illinois. He has been building homes since 1976. He founded Lee Architects and Builders in 1999 to offer services for the design and construction of high-end residences and remodels. He was instrumental in the Community First initiative in Naperville, Illinois and co-authored the book, "Workbook for Successful Redevelopment," which resulted.

The book and the movement challenges builders and architects, whether building a new home or remodeling an existing one, to design to a neighborhood's existing character when designing and building homes there.

Bob's new homes, remodels and additions have been published in numerous magazines and newspapers and he has won a "Merit Award" from the Colorado Society of Architects for his home in Evergreen, Colorado. The custom home that Bob designed and built at 651 Sunset Drive, Naperville was selected by a jury as one of the seven finalists for the 2004 Community Choice Award, the award presented for neighborhood compatible homes. Bob is a past member of the Naperville Building Review Board and the Naperville Historical Sites Commission.

What Others Are Saying About Our Homes

"(Bob) Lee has done an even better job in illustrating these principles (redevelopment homes designed to fit in an existing neighborhood) through the homes that he has built in the East Highlands. They are attractive, architecturally interesting, and blend in well with the neighborhood. They are not towering boxes, brick fortresses and thankfully, not split-levels. I can almost feel my own split-level longing to morph into one of Bob Lee's creations." Nicole Kotrba, Naperville, IL Naperville Sun, Dec 7, 2004, Letters to the Editor

"Your houses fit so well into the neighborhood." Londa Gazall, 712 Sunset Drive, Naperville, IL July, 2004

"I like your homes! They are distinctive and fit well into the neighborhood." Jean Lacher, 629 S. Sleight St, Naperville, IL 2004

"Your homes fit wonderfully well in this neighborhood. They look like they belong here." Nancy Roach, 651 Sunset Drive, Naperville, IL July, 2004

"You build interesting, beautiful homes." Cliff Bassett, 706 South Loomis St, Naperville, IL October, 2004

"We like your houses very much." Jim Goschey, 650 Willow Road, Naperville, IL October, 2004

"I saw the Community First, Inc.(web)site and I think the Lee house is the most beautiful with it's curved rooflines. What a marvelous, cohesive design. It looks like it's been there forever!" Ellen DePierri, Baton Rouge, LA, May, 2004

What Others Are Saying About Us On Angie's List

"Renovated existing family room/kitchen/hallway area to improve traffic flow and utility of these areas, and installed new attached two-car garage with breezeway and second floor storage room. House renovation included relocation of main electrical service panel, relocation of walls, installation of new hardwood floors, three new interior doors, and installation of a new butler pantry (cabinetry, sink, countertop). New garage included three overhead doors, three service doors, and second floor storage room including two dormers.

Lee & Ghandour exceeded our expectations in all key areas of performance. This was our fifth remodeling/room addition project on this house, and it went much better than any of the previous ones. The design phase went smoothly, and resulted in significant improvements to our original ideas about scope, layout, appearance, etc. Their proposal was comprehensive, their cost estimate was competitive and they worked with us to finalize a good contract. Bob Lee and Joe Ghandour both stayed personally involved throughout the project, and were always responsive to our needs. All the material suppliers and subcontractors they selected were very professional and did high quality work. Construction started on the planned date, progressed steadily, and finished a few days ahead of our original schedule. Although we (owners) made several scope changes as the project progressed, Bob & Joe responded positively to all of them, and the cost of these changes were reasonable. The process of making progress payments and getting lien waivers also went smoothly. Overall, Lee & Ghandour did an excellent job completing this challenging project. I will certainly call on them again for any future projects, and would highly recommend them to others."

"Detailed work from proposal to finished project. All questions answered in a timely manner. Willing to work on costs, getting multiple bids etc. But was not afraid to provide opinions on where to not pinch pennies. Would hire again."

Maura Connor, Naperville, IL, February, 2011

"I am pleased to write this recommendation for the exquisite work quality and consumate professionalism demonstrated by Bob Lee and Joe Ghandour. We have been residents in the downtown Naperville area since 2003. Recently, we decided on a rather extensive renovation project and chose to work with Lee and Ghandour Architects and Builders, LLC based upon the fine work we observed in the home they recently built for a trusted family member. Simply put, the "finished product" and overall experience have surpassed our expectations immeasurably. Their meticulous attention to detail including reliable fulfillment of even the "smallest things", sets Lee and Ghandour apart. The results have been transformative to our home and we have been so pleased! I enthusiastically and whole-heartedly endorse the use of Lee and Ghandour Architects and Builders, LLC, 630 South Loomis Street, Naperville, IL 60540. Respectfully, Adam Rieke."
